Zip Files
A Zip file is a type of archive file format that supports lossless data compression. To speed up downloading time , all of our image products are provided in Zip files. The images can be extracted from the Zip files using unzipping software which is included in modern operating systems (right click the Zip file and select the extraction option from the context menu). If your computer does not have unzipping then you may use a program like "7-Zip" to extract the image files. See section, "III. Downloading Images / About Zip Files" (below) for more information about Zip files.

4.
Description of Image Resolution:
As mentioned above, the images are provided in 4 resolutions: 72 DPI, 150 DPI, 300 DPI and 600 DPI. DPI is an acronym for "Dots Per Inch" which describes the physical dot, or pixel, density of an image when displayed on a monitor and in print. It explains how many pixels there are within a square inch of an image. The higher the DPI value of an image, the more pixels there are within a given inch and the better the quality of the image. We have provided a table of projects by DPI value below.
Resolution
Dots Per Inch (DPI)
Type of Project(s)
72 DPI: Low/Web
Websites, blog posts, emails and other projects where a small file size is optimal to maximize download/transfer speed.
150 DPI: Mid/Med
Computer presentations and non-professional printed projects.
300 DPI: High
Projects requiring high-quality printed output at home or work. The minimum DPI required by professional printers.
600 DPI: Max
Projects requiring high-quality printed output at home or work. Use for large-format prints and in pre-existing digital projects that are enlarged from lower DPI values.
5.
Description of Image Formats:
As mentioned above the images are provided in the JPG, PNG and TIF image formats. We have provided information about the formats in the table below. The table includes image thumbnails that link to larger previews of the image files. Please note that all of the preview images are saved at 72 DPI in the JPG format. They were compressed to speed up downloading time and may appear fuzzy or blurred. You may download preview images at higher resolutions under the "Download" tab (above) to evaluate image quality.
JPG (.jpg/.jpeg - Joint Photographic Experts Group) Format
•
The JPG image is flattened to a single layer.
•
The content (background) around the image is white.
•
The image includes a clipping path surrounding the image that can be selected to remove and/or edit the content around the image.
•
USING JPGs: Popular for graphics used on the internet and in other projects. Does not support opacity adjustment/transparency when saved.
(a new window will open)

Uses lossy compression when saved which reduces its file size but also discards data resulting in some image degradation. The more the image is compressed the more its appearance degrades. Since a JPG image degrades every time it is opened, edited and resaved use TIF or PNG images (lossless compression) for image editing and save the final image as a JPG.
•
The checkerboard pattern is used as a background to illustrate the image boundaries. The pattern will not be present on the image you receive in your order.
•
The lines and "Yester Art®" watermark and text will not appear on the image that you receive in your order.
PNG (.png - Portable Network Graphics) Format
•
In the PNG image, all of the content is on a single layer.
•
The content surrounding the image has been deleted and the background is transparent.
•

The file is layered (not flattened) so additional layers of content can be added on layers above and below the image. Content added on layers above the image would appear to be in front of it and, since the background is transparent, content added to layers below the image would appear to be behind it.
(a new window will open)
•
The PNG format does not include a clipping path or alpha channel.
•
USING PNGs: Popular for graphics used on the internet and in other projects. Supports opacity adjustment/transparency when saved allowing backgrounds to be visible through and around the image. Uses lossless compression which preserves all of the image's data when it is saved (no degradation).
•
The checkerboard pattern is used as a background to illustrate the image boundaries. The pattern will not be present on the image you receive in your order.
•
The lines and "Yester Art®" watermark and text will not appear on the image that you receive in your order.
TIFF (.tif/.tiff - Tagged Image Format) Format
•
In the TIF image, all of the content is on a single layer.
•
The TIF format includes a Clipping Path and Alpha Channel both of which surround the image and can be selected to remove and/or edit the content around the image.
•
USING TIFs: Optimal for image editing and printing (300 DPI+). Generally not supported for graphics used on the internet. Supports a variety of graphic features including opacity adjustment/transparency when saved allowing backgrounds to be visible through and around the image. Uses lossless compression which preserves all of the image's data when it is saved (no degradation). Used for image editing where the final image will be saved as a JPG or PNG.
•
The checkerboard pattern is used as a background to illustrate the image boundaries. The pattern will not be present on the image you receive in your order.
•
The lines and "Yester Art®" watermark and text will not appear on the image that you receive in your order.

Our Yester Art® Royalty-Free License permits you to use our image on up to 200 units of an item that is sold commercially. If you would like to use our image, or a derivative of our image, on more than 200 units of an item that you are selling commercially then purchase License Upgrade(s). Purchase 1 upgrade for every additional 100 units on which the image will be used.

C. Image Disc Option - Order Images On Disc
1. Image Disc Order Processing
When you purchase our Image Disc, we save all of the images products that you purchased under the same SKU# (i.e. IIPW1AA) to CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM if the files exceed the CD-ROM's capacity, and ship the disc to you via the shipping service you chose at checkout. Our Image Discs are shipped in protective cases.
2. Instructions Included
Our Image Discs include informational paper inserts that describe the discs' content and explain how to run the discs.
3. We Sell A Separate Image Disc For Every Image Product SKU #
We sell an Image Disc for every distinct downloadable Image Product SKU # (i.e. IIPW1AA) in our shop. A separate Image Disc must be ordered for each Image Product SKU #. We do not combine image products under different SKU #s onto the same Image Disc. When processing an Image Disc order we print a label on the Image Disc that includes a copy of the Image Product that is saved onto it. Limiting our Image Discs to a single Image Product SKU# that can be identified on the label helps our customers keep track of their Image Products. However, if you purchase different Image Products under multiple SKU #s and would like to combine them onto the same Image Disc please Contact Us explaining your request and we will do our best to accommodate you.
4. Immediate Image Download Access Included
Purchasers of our downloadable image products are given download access to their images for 180 days. Purchasers of our Image Discs may download their images during the 180 day download term and/or access their images from their Image Discs. Upon the expiration of download access, customers may access their images from their Image Discs for as long as they own the discs.
5. Image Discs Make Great Gifts!
Image Discs symbolize the tangible form of intangible digital image files and given their physical composition, Image Discs make great gifts!
II. Image Specifications & Features By Product
Descriptions of the Image Specifications and Features Referenced in the Image Product File List Tables are provided below.
1. Description of Image Specifications
a) Format:
i. JPG (.jpg/.jpeg - Joint Photographic Experts Group)
ii. PNG (.png - Portable Network Graphics)
iii. TIFF (.tif/.tiff - Tagged Image Format)
b) DPI:
DPI (Dots Per Inch) indicates the number of pixels in a square inch of an image . The higher the DPI , the more detail there is an image and the better the image will appear in print.
c) Pixels:
The total number of pixels in an image (measured as width by height).
d) Print Size:
The dimensions of the image when printed (measured as width by height).
e) File Size:
The amount of space the image occupies on a storage medium.
f) Color:
I. RGB Color Mode - this color mode combines the primary colors: red, green, and blue,  at values ranging from 0 to 255 to produce over 16 million different colors.
II. ICC Color Profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
2. Description of Image Features
a) AC:
Alpha Channel - an invisible mask within the image that can be used to select and edit the pixels including pixels having varying degrees of opacity.
b) CP:
Clipping Path - an invisible, hard-edged (sharp) shape or outline surrounding a portion of the image that can be used to select the pixels that it surrounds or, by inverting the selection, those pixels that it is within. Once the pixels are selected they may edited.
c) F:
Flattened -  the image is on a single layer on an opaque canvas that is devoid of any transparent areas.
d) L:
Layered - the image can be on one or more independent layers which support transparency. Using graphics software, layers can be added above and below layer(s) containing content.
e) LLC:
Lossless Compression (LLC) - a form of image compression that occurs as an image is being saved that preserves all of the image data. Upon reopening an LLC image, the image data will decompress recreating an exact replica of the original image. An LLC image can be reopened, edited and resaved without any degradation to its quality.
f) LC:
Lossy Compression (LC) - a form of image compression that occurs as an image is being saved that discards some the image data to reduce the file size. The quality of an LC image degrades each time it is reopened, edited and resaved. A benefit of LC images is being able to control the amount of compression when saving them which determines their file size.
g) Image Tracking & Protective Measures:
We add unique graphic elements to our digital image files so that they can be identified as our products and as security measures that we hope will protect our images from piracy and unauthorized use. This practice also helps protect your investment in our company by maintaining the value of our images which sustains our ability to continue developing products and services and providing support for the same.
h) Descriptive File Names:
We name our graphic files with descriptive file names so that they can be quickly and easily identified when multiple files are open or when selecting a file to open. Here is an example:
i) Logical File Structure:
Our digital image files are carefully organized into an easy-access, logical file structure in our Downloadable Zip Files and on our Image Discs.

A. Downloading Images
1.  You will be given immediate access to download your image product(s) via a download link in an email that you will receive after the payment for your order is completed (i.e. completing a payment via Paypal)
2.
Download access to image product(s) is limited to 5 downloads. After the fifth download, access to download the file will expire. Download access to the image product may be reinstated by repurchasing the image product.
3.

To download an image product navigate to "My Account", click the "Downloads" link under "My Orders" to open your Downloads page and click the download link of the file that you want to download.

B. About Zip Files
A Zip (.zip) file is a type of archive file that compresses one or more files to a single file that is significantly smaller than the size the file(s) were prior to being compressed. We incorporate our image files into Zip files to reduce the amount of time it takes to download the files.
After downloading a Zip file you will need to use compression software to extract the files. Computers running the Macintosh or Windows operating systems may include compression software capable of opening Zip files. On either system, double-clicking the Zip file may start the file extraction process. Alternatively, right-clicking on the Zip file may open a context menu containing a command (i.e. Extract...) that can be clicked to start the file extraction process. Other computer operating systems may also include compression software. If your operating system does not support file extraction, third-party software may be used to open the Zip file. Some options include 7zip, Stuffit and Winrar. More compression software options may be found by searching the internet.
IV. About Flash Drives & Image Discs
1.  Our digital image products include an option to order the images on our USB Flash Drive or Disc (dvd-rom). This Disc option is referred to as our Image Disc. At least one Image Product Option (i.e. 300 DPI (High Resolution)) under an Image Product (i.e. Woman 1 (PCH) Coat 1 (Gold) [C. 1920]) must be purchased with our USB Flash Drive or Image Disc. The Image Product Option will be saved onto the USB Flash Drive or Image Disc and shipped to the customer.
2.  A separate USB Flash Drive or Image Disc must be ordered for each Image Product (i.e. Woman 1 (PCH) Coat 1 (Gold) [C. 1920]). However, all Image Product Options purchased under the same Image Product will be included on the same USB Flash Drive or Image Disc. For example if our 72 DPI Image Product Option, 600 DPI Image Product Option and our Image Disc are purchased under the same Image Product both Image Product Options would be included on one Image Disc.
3.
When processing an Image Disc we print a label on the disc that includes a copy of the Image Product that is saved onto it. Limiting our Image Discs to a single Image Product that can be identified on the disc's label helps our customers keep track of their Image Products since they can determine their discs' contents at a glance.
1.
Our USB Flash Drives and Image Discs are delivered in protective cases with informational paper inserts containing operating instructions and descriptions of the contents.
2.
Our USB Flash Drives and Image Discs provide customers with unlimited access to the image product(s) saved onto the discs for as long as the customer owns the discs.
3.
Customers also receive immediate download access to the image product(s) saved onto their USB Flash Drives and Image Discs allowing them to download their image products pending their receipt of their Our USB Flash Drives and/or Image Discs. Upon the expiration of download access (after 5 downloads), the images may be accessed from their USB Flash Drive and/or Image Disc.
1.
Our Image Discs are compatible with Windows® (PC) and Macintosh® computer operating systems with a disc drive capable of reading dvd-roms in the dvd-r format. We have found that most dvd drives can read dvd-roms in the dvd-r format. Our USB Flash Drives are compatible with Windows® (PC) and Macintosh® computer operating systems with a USB port that is compatible with 2.0 flash drives. We have found that most computer USB ports support the 2.0 flash drive format. Please consult your computer's documentation regarding its compatibility with USB Flash Drives and DVD-roms (dvd-r format) to ensure compatibility.
2.
The image files on the Image Disc can be opened on a Windows® (PC) or Macintosh® system using software capable of opening images in the JPG, PNG and TIF formats.

B. License Upgrade Option
